About Our Launches

Propel Science Foundation hosts both regular high power launches and launches specifically for American Rocketry Challenge (ARC) teams. All launches hosted by Propel follow the NAR Safety Code. To learn more about each of these launches, click below.

Launches for ARC practice or qualifying flights are held upon request any time of the year. Propel has access to several launch sites in the Northwest Alabama area and can also travel to other launch sites if needed.

American Rocketry Challenge (ARC) Launches

Propel intends to host public high power launches at least quarterly, but exact scheduling is dependent on multiple factors. Launches will be scheduled with at least 30 days notice. Flights are allowed up to 10,400 feet (11,400 foot FAA waiver) and all impulse classes up to O are permitted. The RSO/flight director may disallow any flight that is deemed a safety hazard or risks breaking the waiver. All launches are conducted under NAR rules, and any requests to fly research motors must be submitted two weeks prior to launch.
